Ethical Leadership Coaching

What is the impact you want to have on the world?

Are you leading true to your values?

How might your decisions and behaviours be affecting your teams, society and the planet?

In the midst of a chaotic world, we can find ourselves increasingly focusing on short-term problem solving. When we do that, we can lose sight of both our long-term goals, and of our values. Our day-to-day decisions and behaviours can start to have very different impacts from the ones we intend.

When we are working towards big, exciting goals that we truly believe in, in a way which is true to our values, it unlocks immense power. The authenticity and conviction of a leader can ripple out and change an organisation’s culture and have a positive impact on the wider world.

I discovered this myself during my career as a theatre director. I was making work which I believed had powerful and positive messages, but I was viewing my colleagues as tools to achieve that goal, rather than treating them with complete respect. When I realised that I was not behaving true to my values, I switched my day-to-day attention away from worrying about the final production, to supporting each person as fully as I could. When I focused on enabling everyone to contribute their full creativity and skills to the project, the atmosphere in the rehearsal room transformed to one of positivity and camaraderie, and the productions became more impactful for the audience.

Ethical leadership coaching takes place over a series of one-on-one sessions face to face (I’m York-based but willing to travel) on Teams, Zoom or phone call. I will use the coaching techniques of powerful questions, coupled with respectful listening, to enable you to clarify your goals, identify your values, and then explore how to bring your actions into alignment with those values, to best move towards your goals.

Coaching is based on the discovery that most people make positive changes more effectively when they identified themselves, rather than having them imposed by others. Coaching is at its best when the coach takes responsibility for asking good questions, whilst the coachee takes responsibility for digging deep and answering honestly and creatively, rather than the coach giving advice or knowledge.

I am looking to work with people who want to make a difference to the world and are willing to commit the time and effort to look deeply at themselves and think about their impact on their stakeholders, society and the planet.

If that might be you please get in touch, and we can arrange a short conversation to explore working together.
